Broadband Britain

The speed of broadband take-up in the UK has now created a critical mass of customers for new services and big leaps in technology have made new services possible. UK subscribers stand at 3.1million users (Sept 2003) and growth is set to continue. Local and national Government sectors are targeted with utilising existing and new technologies to provide enhanced services and to reach the population via multiple channels and on a personal level.

  • iSeeCommunications to TV can give universal access to government services (99% of the population own a TV)
  • iSeeCommunications to PC is ‘technology free’ for broadband users, bears no cost to the user and can speed up the government’s goal to achieve Broadband Britain.

Together both services provide universal access and acceptability, bridging all socio-economic groups. They can be used to deliver e-learning (link to e-learning sector), health (link to Healthcare page), advice and information from local and national government departments to the home or to remote locations such as council offices, libraries and community centres.

In a recent independent survey among broadband users 70% liked the person onscreen being able to have all the information at their fingertips and being able to show multimedia content.
